If you shop the really good sales, at the right time, in the right stores, you can get unfinished ornaments cheap. Twenty-something daughter came up for a post- Thanksgiving visit and brought us a dozen or so plaster ornaments, unpainted, for a family project. Teenage son chose t spend the evening with his friends in the neighborhood, but the rest of us each painted one or more ornaments — including our pastor who was also there for a visit.
Four-year old Active Daughter painted 3 ornaments, by herself, using a mix of the 3 colors offered. She got almost as much on her arms and hands, but the results were successful and affirming. Dad painted one, I painted 2, and Father Pastor painted three.
In all it was a great success, because often it seems that conversation flows well when our hands are busy. Now we have new ornaments for the tree, and who knows, maybe it will become a day-after-Thanksgiving tradition. Once is all it takes!
Have fun with our family making memories!

Dear Friends,
Happy Thanksgiving! Each day gives us so much to be thankful for. What shall I mention today?
I am grateful for my family, of course. Grateful and thankful that God has blessed us with seven children - and thankful for their good health, and my health, and the health of Most Wonderful Mate. My extended family, mother, siblings, in-laws all add to the depth and dimensions of my life. I am thankful.
But even before the gift of family, I have the gift of God’s love. This love has enabled me to be here on this earth, and to feel the wonder of His creation. I am thankful to the God of Creation, God the Father, for his creativity. For He could have created the world like a machine to do its job, but without beauty, but He chose to grace us with His best work - the Earth, the Universe and all that’s in it.
And from this beautiful creation, comes our own creative spirit. The ability to share in God’s creativity through the bringing of children into the world, and through the work of our hands. For this, I also give Thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving, (Please review what you are grateful for this day)
