Give Me Rest O’Lord — Wednesday 2nd week of Advent

Gospel  Mt 11:28-30

Jesus said to the crowds:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

I’m worn out. How about you? This world wears us down with expectations and responsibilities. To read this Gospel and actually know there is hope of rest – thank you Lord, for this promise.

What should our response be to this passage?  Spend more time with God. Many churches offer Eucharistic Adoration at some time during the week. This is a perfect time to sit with the Lord and be healed.  But any time spent with Scripture is spent with the Lord. Spending time in Nature is restful as we place ourselves in the presence of the God of Creation.

Today, I will respond to the call. Good-bye, I’m going to spend time with the Lord.

Peace,

Ann
