That tiny piece of paper makes a blog entry.

What’s white, flat, rectangular, wrinkled and laying on the grey carpet?  It is  piece of paper, just one of the few that is flecked on the carpet throughout the family room. You know what I mean?  The scrap that sits there for days and everyone steps over it, and then it is enough to trigger a parent who shouts, “Get this family room cleaned!”

Perhaps it is a list I was making when I sat here at the computer. Or maybe it is a kid’s score sheet from a game they played. It really doesn’t matter much. Eventually someone will pick it up and either confirm that it is trash, or throw it back on the computer desk for the next person to deal with.

Sooner or later, as I write this blog entry, I will have to bend over, reach…, and identify this white slip of paper that is about 3.5 x 6 inches. I’m pretty sure you won’t be very interested in what it is — and there’s a mighty good chance I won’t be interested either.

OK - here goes…I’m reaching for it…I’m looking at it…and.. I was right.  Just a boring ol’ piece of paper that is a note to myself. And if you are wondering how this blog topic got chose, and how it got written, read on.

When I have writer’s block, I say to my son (13 years old), “What should I write about today?”  Today the reply was “that piece of trash on the floor.”

I’ll try to think up something else, by myself, in the future!

A Way to Start the New Year

Hi Readers!

You may have read my blog entry a few weeks ago about cleaning out teenage son’s room.  Well, now it’s teenage daughter’s turn.  She went snowboarding yesterday and before leaving, couldn’t find her snow pants or goggles. She had to borrow brother’s goggles, and wear snow pants that really didn’t fit!

Well, now, before her New Year’s eve celebration at a friend’s house, she will be cleaning, organizing and sorting every nook and cranny of her room.

I think it will be a very good way for her to start the new year, in a clean room. She will find lots of things she had “lost” and she will unburden herself of other things she no longer needs.  I expect that it will be a BIG JOB, so….I guess I will be having her home a lot in the next 5 or so days.

I look forward to the results, and even if she doesn’t look forward to it all, I know she’ll be glad when it is accomplished.

Here’s to a squeaky clean New Year’s Day!

Ann
