Scripture has many, many names for Jesus. some we hear each week at Mass, others we pray each day. But for some times or some occasions, a certain name that was used to refer to Jesus is more significant, more fitting to the circumstance.

Prince of Peace: This title of Jesus should be on our lips and in our hearts at all times. Not only do we need and desire peace in our own lives, but peace in the world, namely, Israel, Palestine, Iran, Afghanistan, and all places of war at this time. (Is. 9:5)

Light of the World: Light frees us, it helps us be safe. We don’t walk on darkened streets, neither should we walk on darkened paths of life. We need the Light. (Jn. 8:12)

Son of God: This is one title we hear weekly. But it always serves to remind us that we too are children of God and brothers and sisters of Jesus. (Mark 1:11)

Teacher: Let me learn from you, Jesus! You teach the truth with gentleness. You cannot misguide us. You are the one true teacher. Let us learn from you. (John 1:38)
