The Tomb of Pope John Paul II

Published by anniezs at 2:48 pm under Catholic Faith, God and grace, new experience Edit This

Greetings from Rome

Despite a sleepless night on the plane, we had time and energy to walk around a little bit in Rome today. We visited St. Peter’s Basilica and visited the tombs of many popes. Particularly  meaningful to us was the tomb of Pope John Paul II. It is reverently guarded and no photography is allowed. A number of pilgrims were in silent prayer at the tomb.  We joined them.

The Pieta, enclosed in a glass room, felt so familiar as we have seen so many images of it.We plan to visit the Basilica again and attend Mass there.  The Italian people are very efficient yet warm, and very accommodating as my sister and I (mostly her) attempt the Italian language.

You are all in my prayers.
